Xstream SAFE© is a Mass Notification/Communication Management software tool that allows a community, municipality, county or state agency the ability to communicate effectively with administrative groups, emergency personnel, first responders, and ultimately the public at large in the event of potential or actual emergencies. This is accomplished via text messaging to existing cell phones, PDA’s, alphanumeric pagers, email, etc. XSM© uses cellular technology rather than outdated landline technology. Landline communication is neither a reliable nor time-sensitive method of alerting people in emergency situations and auto-dialers (required for landline communication) are not a cost-effective means of notification. Xstream Mobile Solutions© feels that cellular text messaging is the most efficient method to deliver these messages, as the vast majority of people carry their cell phones with them.
Text Messaging Benefits
Text Messaging has been proven to be the most reliable form of communication in a truly “dark” environment. We all remember people trying to call on their cell phones during 9/11 and Katrina and finding “all circuits busy”. Text messages are carried on a “data” network as opposed to a “voice” network and operate in a “store and forward” method rather than an actual connection. A high level of signal strength (bars) is not necessary to receive a text message.
